In Acehnese kitchen: Mie Aceh

While visiting or living in Aceh you will taste thousands of different Acehnese food. Sweet and spicy - this is two words that would define Acehnese food the best. Lets open a kitchen doors and learn to cook one of the most popular dish of this Indonesian region - Mie Aceh.

Ingredients:

250 gr noodles

6 small shallots

4 garlic cloves

2 green onions

Bamboo shoots

Cabbage

7 red chili peppers (if you want less spicy, use less)

10 small chili peppers (again, consider what spiciness you want)

1 tomato

3 teaspoons sweet soy sauce

2 teaspoons salty soy sauce

salt

cooking oil


Directions:

1. Chop shallots, garlic, green onions, chili peppers and tomato.


2. In Wok pan heat oil.


3. Put garlic, onions into heated oil. Stir.


4. After couple of minutes put chopped tomato.


5. Mix everything with soya sauce and chili peppers.


6. Add sliced cabbage and bamboo shoots. Stir.


7. Add boiled noodles and green onions.


8. Stir everything for 5 minutes.


9. Serve with cucumber and tomato.
