Must See: Tropical Flora in Hutan Kota Banda Aceh

Tropical flora is one of the attractions forcing people to visit Indonesia. Coconut trees, bananas, mangos are the best known among Western people. But actually there are hundreds of different plants in Indonesia that finishes as cooking ingredient or timber for furniture.

If you still lack knowledge of tropical plants but want to see what flora is thriving in Sumatra, visit Hutan Kota (eng. Forest of the city) while staying in Banda Aceh.

Hutan Kota Banda Aceh is located in Darussalam that is occupied by University campus. If you decide to see a local beach here (Alue Naga) the park is on the way there.

In the park there are hundreds of different plants but the good part is that even if you do not know what plant it is you can see a plates with names and be sure what tropical tree or bush you see.

You can see how such plants as bamboo, acacia, tamarind, starfruit, banyan, pine, henna, cashew, teak, rubber tree, cinnamon, candlenut, litchi, jackfruit, soursop or breadfruit look.

Moreover, in the park you can experience real Sumatran nature here. There are also fish nursery, jasmine park and mangrove area which can be viewed while walking on wooden bridge.

One more interesting thing to see here - trees from the top. In the park there is a canopy trail made. It is not very high and not very long so even if you have fear of hight you can fully enjoy it.
